Patchwork pattern: Dubbelzijdig Log Cabin 3
The block of the month (March 2014) is a foundation pattern, but you can also sew it the traditional way. When making a double sided Log Cabin, take a 17 x 17 cm piece of fiberfill. Draw the block on teabag paper (TB). Draw next to each line a dotted line so you know where to put your fabric. Sew with a seam allowance of 7 mm.
How to sew:
-
Put the TB pattern at the fiberfill.
-
Put strip A1 with right side up at the fiberfill, put the long side of the strip next to the dotted line.
-
Put A2 on top of A1, right side down. Pin together.
-
Turn the whole piece upside down and put A1 and A2 at the same place on the backside.
-
Pin together all the layers and sew 7mm next to the outside.
-
Fold open both pieces A2 (front and back side)
-
Put A3 at both sides on top of A2, pin together.
-
Sew next to the outside of the A3 pieces and fold open.
-
Do this with all the strips and triangles.
-
Sew the blocks together as ‘Quilt as you go’-blocks.
